John Willson VIEW PROFILE

John D. Willson died at Mayo Health System in Mankato on October 25, 2018 after a short battle with cancer. John was born in Nicollet County, MN on March 12, 1952 to Daniel R. and Ruby (Krohn) Willson. John lived the majority of his life in the Kasota, MN area. He graduated from Mankato High school in 1970. He served in the US Naval Reserve from 1971 to 1974 then the US Navy from 1974 until 1978. John spent 20 years on the Kasota Fire Department, was a member of The Red Men Club of St. Peter and the American Legion Post 207 of Cleveland, MN. John worked for Winco in Le Center for 33 years before retiring in 2014. John spent most of his spare time fishing the lakes around Garrison, MN with his good friend Dennis Hergert. John will be missed dearly by his sisters, Karen Strand, Linda Derner (Ken) and Betty Maas (Dayle) all of Kasota and Mary Holcomb (Marty Lee) of North Mankato, brothers Patrick Willson of Austin, MN, Steve Willson (Karen) of Mankato, Chuck Willson and Curt Willson (Marlene) of St. Peter and Doug Willson (Jody) of Kasota and many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews and one great-great-great nephew. John was preceded in death by his parents, brother Richard, nephew Christopher Strand and great nephew Geoffery Waters. There will be no services, but the family will be having a Celebration of Life at The Red Men Club in St. Peter on Sunday, November 11, 2018 from 1-4pm with a Red Men Ceremony in the parking lot at 2pm. Stop by and share some memories and say goodbye to "Joinkles". See you all there!
